My Background

There’s honestly so much going on at the

Music has always been a huge part of my life. Before I even realised I wanted to play an instrument I already knew the likes of Queen, Bowie, Blur, ACDC, Norah Jones, Louis Armstrong, Eva Cassidy and so many more and was completely fascinated as to how their music could make me feel a particular emotion.

It wasn't until I was about 8 years old that I decided I wanted to play the piano. My grandparents bought me a clunky grey Casio keyboard which I played so much that the keys wore away! My Ma-ma helped me learn pieces like 'Eidelwise' from The Sound of Music on the piano which to this day I can still play! Towards the end of primary school, I had a go at singing and knew instantly that THIS was something I wanted to pursue. In high school I joined the choir and got involved in any other musical clubs there were such as Glee club and Orchestra. We had such a community of musicians and it was at that point that I realised how important music is to anyone and everyone.

Music brings people together from all walks of life. It boosts your mood, It stimulates your brain when both playing and listening to it. You don't even have to be able to play music to be a part of a musical community. Look at concerts and festivals! One of the biggest musical community gatherings in the world is right here in the UK in a field in Glastonbury! It's a universal language. You don't need to understand the words of music to know what they're saying. Look at operas! You don't need to speak Italian to know how Cio-Cio San is feeling when singing 'Un bel di vedremo' in Puccini's Madame Butterfly.
