For the grown-ups who want a giggle!

At Earth Wind and Choir! we sing a range of different genres from pop to Disney to jazz to classical and anything else we fancy having a crack at! 🤘

We are all about inclusivity. There are no auditions at all so we have a lovely range of voices of different levels and capabilities. When they go for it, they sound AMAZING!

This choir is about socialising whilst singing. We usually start our rehearsal with a very silly warm-up and jump straight into the song. We have a little break halfway through the rehearsal where you can top up your drink at the bar then continue for another half an hour or so.

We love to have new members so if you fancy joining, do make sure to get in contact or just come along one week for a free trial.

If you love music and want to take it further, then Emily is the person that will help you expand your own musical experience by improving your own vocals, understand theory, understand instruments and most significantly, give you the confidence that's needed for you to step up and perform.

I have worked with Emily for some time now and she has, without doubt, a fabulous understanding personality, which puts you at ease from the start and enables her to get the best out of you using her creative and professional abilities. To me, music is in us all and Emily will definitely help to bring that out in everyone.

Why did I join the Contemporary Choir? To quote, "it seemed like a good idea at the time". In reality my daughter, Frank asked me to come along and support her and I'm glad I did. From Emily's enthusiasm and meeting new, like minded friends I have enjoyed the Monday evenings, learning that I do have a 'range' and taking part in public performances installs a sense of self-confidence and willingness to keep going. Learning songs, new and old has been very enjoyable. The Choir has gone from strength to strength and we all encourage and support each other to take that 'extra step' or even 'extra key' and looking forward to doing more. Whether a beginner or, a 'shower' singer I would recommend coming and see what we do, I'm looking forward to when we can sing again.

FAQ

Do I need to be able to read music?

No. It certainly be helpful but in no means a requirement. There's the option of using lyric sheets as well as sheet music.

Where can I park?

At that time in the evening you can park on most yellow lines locally. I usually park right outside The Sun on North Street. There is also Honeywood Walk which usually has spaces too!

I'm not a confident singer, will that be an issue?

The joy of being in a choir is that you are not alone! Singing in a choir isn't about being the loudest, it's about listening to the room and blending with the group. They are a really lovely welcoming bunch too so any nerves will almost certainly disappear quickly!

Can I bring my child with me?

The choir is generally over 18s only however if they are over 16 and come with an adult then that is fine.
